Well the federal Liberals are at it again. As a way to maintain power, they are basically reneging on their agreement with the NDP from the spring budget, and re-introducing a horde of tax cuts for individuals and corporations. According to the Toronto Star’s website, the tax cuts will total something in the neighborhood of 30 billion over the next five years. So, let’s get this straight: the Liberals have lost the ability to govern, have ignored allegations of corruption and spit on the NDP deal. Now they plan to bankrupt the ability of the state to pay for valued social programs (it is worth noting that Canadians still say their number one priority is the preservation of public health and education). This is simply corruptible behaviour from a corruptible government. It is time for Martin to go the polls. Even if he returns with a minority, good luck getting those Tax cuts through without the help of the opposition. This would mean the Liberals would be forced to deal with the Conservatives, which is Martin’s true home anyway….
That man will drive us all to drink. And not the good stuff either.
