To Go or Not to Go?

There has been plenty of talk in the past few days about a Christmas election. The parties in Ottawa are jockeying for position, the Liberals are running around handing out whatever they can to stay in power and the opposition is jumping all over each other trying to call an election, without actually taking responsibility for calling an election.

I say (not that it means much) let’s go. Perhaps if we are lucky, we’ll get a party demanding a PR system, so that we’ll get used to this idea that no party really represents the “national” interest. As for a Christmas election, well what better gift than a politician at your door? They’ll promise you the world and then forget all about you come New Year…truly Canada’s weak democracy in action…
